What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a safe and effective form of health care that focuses on the body’s natural ability to heal itself through the control of the nervous system, without the use of drugs or surgery. The main controlling element of your nervous system, your brain, is connected to all aspects of your body via the spinal cord and the nerves which exit your spinal cord. The vertebral spinal column is composed of moving bones and joints that encase the spinal cord. These bones can become fixated or stuck and interfere with nerve flow, thus resulting in a subluxation. Subluxations interfere with the body’s ability to function optimally and thus can compromise your health leading to illness.

What is an adjustment?

An adjustment is a term that describes the use of a variety of manipulative techniques that restore normal position and motion to the bones of the spine.

How long will it take?

Chiropractic care is based on the body’s natural healing ability, which varies from patient to patient. Some patients may find noticeable improvement from just one adjustment, while others will need a series of adjustments to restore proper function and achieve complete healing. Many factors can affect the healing process. How long have you had this problem? Are you following your treatment plan? Are you getting the proper rest, nutrition and exercise that your body needs? Do you have other conditions that are affecting this problem?

What ages benefit from chiropractic?

Chiropractic care is safe and effective for people of all ages. Beginning with infants, the spine can be affected during the birthing process. Damage can occur as the baby’s skull and spine is pulled, twisted, or forced from the birth canal. As children grow, their bodies are constantly changing. Learning to walk, ride a bike, play sports are just a few things that can add stresses to a child’s spine. Adults experience work injuries, car accidents, and many other stresses from daily life that can affect spinal function. Seniors can maintain mobility and energy in their day to day activities, as well as see improvement from many age-related problems by utilizing chiropractic care.
